Afghan Herati Runner

Herati rugs have been woven in the Herat region of Afghanistan for centuries, hand-knotted by Tajik weavers whose connection to the craft runs as deep as the tradition itself. This rug is built on a wool foundation, with hand-spun wool pile woven directly onto it. The wool on wool construction gives the rug a softer, more flexible handle than a cotton-based rug and adds a natural depth to the pile that you feel as much as see. The wool is hand-spun using traditional methods, selected for its quality and natural strength, and retains its lanolin for a silky feel underfoot and a sheen that holds over time. The tightly packed knot structure keeps the design sharp and well-defined across the full field of the rug, and wears exceptionally well with age.
