Chrysocolla Bird, Eagle With Salmon by Loren Tsalabutie

An outstanding chrysocolla eagle with olive green, neon blue and brown streaks, carved by Loren Tsalabutie looking downwards and to its left side with turquoise inlaid eyes. Loren has carved the wings slightly open with feather rows incised on them. The eagle stands surprisingly on a salmon carved from the same stone with one coral inlaid eye that faces downwards. Eagles and fish represent the connection between the sky and water. Across Indigenous traditions, the eagle carrying a salmon is viewed not simply as a hunt, but as a lesson of balance, interconnectedness, and the eternal circle of life.
