By experimenting with a variety of media, including wood, metal, glass, and paint, Barakat continues to take inspiration from the rich history of the region and Palestinian culture. His solo exhibitions have included the Sao Paulo Bienanale, Sao Paulo, Brazil (1996) and Distant Voices at the Zawyeh Gallery, Ramallah (2014).
