The design incorporates several elements from both the Orthodox Chotki or prayer rope and the Catholic Rosary. The 33 beads represent the 33 years which Jesus spent on this earth as a man. There are 4 groups of 7 beads called "weeks". In between each "week" is a "Cruciform" bead. The intersection of these four beads forms a cross.
