There is truly nothing else like these ethereal beauties-- delicate tissue paper petals unfurl to big, blousy flowers which are truly exquisite. Soft, sherbet colors range from delicate peach, watermelon, lemon ice, to ivory. Iceland poppies are truly awe inspiring, but they are not a beginner friendly flower. These cut-flower poppies require careful planning and attention, and I don't have slam-dunk instructions for the home garden yet-- some years in my garden they're fantastic, some years they fizzle. Even so I will continue to grow them, because they are just so inspiring! Life cycle: Hardy annual or biannual (Frost tolerant but not heat tolerant) Start: Annual - Start indoors 8-12 weeks before last frost. Biannual - Start indoors in late summer, and transplant into garden in fall. Planting depth: Surface sow, mist and bottom water only Spacing: 9" apart Site: Full sun, average, evenly moist, well drained soil Days to maturity: 90-120 days Height: 1-2' This seed was collected from my favorite hummingbird-type Iceland poppy plants, which were open-pollinated, with no other poppy on the property. Some variation can be expected. Includes at minimum 100 seeds. Germination test for this seed lot were near 100%.
