SEIKO SQ100 GERALD GENTA ‘NAUTELLIPSE’ ref 6923-5130
Seiko was founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori in Tokyo, starting as a watch and clock repair shop. In 1892, he established the Seikosha factory, which laid the foundation for what would become Seiko. In 1913, Seiko produced Japan’s first wristwatch, the Laurel. The name “Seiko” first appeared on dials in 1924. In 1969, Seiko made history by introducing the Quartz Astron, the world’s first quartz wristwatch, which revolutionized the entire watch industry. During the 1960s and 1970s, Seiko also pioneered automatic chronographs and served as the official timekeeper for multiple Olympic Games. Over the decades, Seiko developed a wide range of collections from entry-level to high-end, including Seiko 5, Presage, Prospex, and King Seiko. Its most prestigious line, Grand Seiko, became an independent brand in 2017 and now represents the pinnacle of Japanese watchmaking.
