Gold is where it all begins. Covella lays down a warm, luminous ground that breathes through the entire composition, threading itself downward in fine vertical drips — like light filtered through the canopy of a garden in full bloom. Over that gilded base, the painting erupts in soft, gestural marks of lavender, blush, mint and fuchsia. The brushwork is loose and instinctive, suggesting flowers without ever spelling them out.
