Maker Spotlight: All Hours
Here we’re featuring a rotating cast of winemakers whose juice we totally dig. This month we shine the spotlight on our good friend and local boy, Alex Pomerantz of Subject to Change and newer second label, All Hours. Alex was making wine elsewhere for Kivelstadt Cellars in Sonoma starting his own natural wine project in 2018 -- with a strong commitment to sourcing only organic/biodynamic fruit, not intervening in the cellar (rarely, if ever, even adding So2), and keeping ABVs low. But he's all about experimentation, throwing a bunch of ideas in the barrel and seeing what sticks. Like red + white co-ferments and fermenting white grapes carbonically, among other oddities. But in the end, the wines don’t taste experimental, or weird. Just fresh, delicious and supremely crushable.
