Botanical Name: Petroselinum crispum Lifecycle: Annual Heritage: The Mediterranean, pre 1900's ‘Italian Flat Leaf’ Parsley is a popular culinary herb that’s highly versatile in the kitchen. Italian Flat Leaf Parsley offers a fine, sweet flavour that many prefer over curled parsley. It’s easy to grow and produces flavourful green flat leaves. Parsley is one of the very best cut and come again herbs for the kitchen garden. It is excellent for adding to cooking at the last minute for maximum flavour and is used to garnish many dishes including fish, sauces and pastas. Can also be dried for use at a later date. SOWING: Spring - Early Autumn Transplant Parsley seeds are best sown in spring through early autumn. Sow seeds in trays of seed raising mix and germinate at temperatures of approx. 10°c – 25°c. 10°c - 25°c 14 - 21 days Transplant with care once seedlings have several true leaves and are approx. 10cm tall, to a sunny and well-drained position approx. 15cm – 20cm apart. It is suited for growing in pots or containers if garden space is limited, just remember to water it regularly. 15cm - 30cm 60 - 90 days Hardy TIPS: Typically added to dishes just before serving. Eat immediately upon picking for best flavour. Please beware that it will not tolerate hot dry conditions, so ensure that your parsley plants are sufficiently watered.
