Something I have noticed No.5
100 pages of my photos, illustrations and stories to enjoy in stock and ready to post ships around the world A4 sized printed on smooth paper by a carbon neutral print company collectible - there will be a new one each spring "In turbulent times we all need reminding that small and real and gentle things matter. When our attention is stolen and scattered far and wide how do we gather it back again? Creating breathing space amidst the pressures, worries and distractions of being a human in the 2020’s is no easy feat. It’s a practice. Join me as I share some of the things I did that made me feel like myself again. Going for a walk and noticing nature is always the right thing to do". I sometimes hear people asking their friends and followers on the internet what they do to find their peace and stability in these turbulent times. It made me wonder what I would say if anyone asked me that directly. We certainly need something to turn to over and over that will help bring us back to our own inner peace and knowing. Personally I find that peace in the woods, in the birdsong, in the colour of the sky, in the dappled light, the burble of the river, the smell of the earth and in my own breath coming in and going out. But time and time again my attention is pulled away from those good things by the pressures, worries and distractions of being a human in the 2020’s so I celebrate each time I manage to create the space to drop into a quiet kind of looking and listening that re-connects me and reminds me that I am apart of nature too. If you’re looking for that connection too, then I hope this journal inspires you to celebrate your small moments in nature. We don’t have to have huge adventures and spend days and days in the wilderness to connect deeply. It is said that it’s not the amount of time you spend in nature that deepens your connection to it, but the quality of your attention while you are there. I have found that to be true just sitting on my doorstep with a cup of tea listening to the birds. The title of each piece is a suggestion, something you could try or an idea to explore. They are reminders to myself of what worked for me; put your big girl boots on, thank your ancestors, be fascinated, write a love letter, follow a feeling, sing your song, take off your veil of knowing, learn a new skill, tell your story, find new paths, make friends with a tree, give thanks, taste natures gifts, make flowers not war, turn with the wheel of the year, don't forget you're precious, go for a walk when you are too busy, and listen. What people have said about last years journal: "I have just devoured your number 4 journal in one day ….it was so uplifting and nourishing that I couldn’t put it down " "My Mum absolutely LOVED your journal, touching each page and picture like a treasure and like she was there. She named every flower as she flicked through and said her Dad taught her all the UK wildflowers. Then she wanted to show her sister next time because she knew she would like it too.". "I am currently on a train to Brighton, it’s noisy with children, squeaks and digital pings and pongs from games and messages. But I’ve been lost in the world of wild edges, moons and owls. I didn’t hear any of the noise until I closed my something I have noticed to look at my phone. I’d been pacing myself, reading a paragraph or page at the most but only when I’ve had time to sit, drink a brew and then wistfully move into the landscape you paint with words and images. Today though I wanted to get lost from the busyness in my head, so I’ve devoured the rest and it’s calmed me right down. I am here now in this. Thank you.♥️" "Hi Hannah, your beautiful book arrived today! It is so inspiring and makes me want to immediately gather my photogrphs and found objects too. Thank you!" "I am so grateful to have been introduced to Hannah Nunn through her beautiful writing, photography, and home decor creations. After having deeply enjoyed her “Three Something’s” newsletters, I was delighted to learn that she was writing a book filled with stories of her nature wanderings, contemplations and beautiful photography. It is with great joy that I have walked with Hannah through her woodland paths and life trails through the pages of all three of her first volumes. It is with great eagerness that I await the arrival of volume four, that is soon to arrive in the mail. Through her writing and photography, Hannah transports me through lovely English woodlands in their various seasons, and through life as she lives it, both which render connection and contemplation for me in the paths of my own life. " "I just wanted to make contact and let you know how much your lovely emails, journals and treasures sustain me in the pockets of peace that I fashion from my day."
