The blue and green flash across this piece is real and consistent where it is present. Every boulder opal carving is one of one. This piece carries a bit more of its raw origin story than most, and it is priced accordingly. Solid 14k gold hardware. One of one. A natural mark from the stone’s journey. During final cleaning, a small amount of the ironstone backing on this piece came loose. The opal face and the carving itself are untouched. The stone is set securely in the bezel and is not going anywhere. This is simply visible on the back, where the ironstone matrix meets the opal layer, a reminder that this material comes straight from the ground, not a lab. There is also a small divot on the front of the carving, left over from the original carving process. It is not visible when the piece is worn.
