Motorola MOTOTRBO DP4801Ex, ATEX Portable Two-Way Radio VHF or UHF, full keypad and 5-line colour display, ATEX and IECEx certified. Price on application, contact MSL to confirm. Overview The Motorola DP4801Ex is the full-keypad sibling of the DP4401Ex, adding a 5-line colour display and up to 1000 channel capacity to the same ATEX and IECEx certified, best-in-class-audio platform. It's built for teams working around explosive gas or combustible dust who also need on-screen text messaging, contact lists, and menu navigation, not just voice. DP4000 Ex Series UHF radios also meet SOLAS Chapter II-2 Regulation 10.10.4 for fire-fighter radios carried on board ships, and carry the Wheel Mark and Red Ensign Mark, worth knowing for any marine or fishing fleet customer. Key Features ATEX and IECEx certified means genuine intrinsic safety for use around explosive gas, vapour, or combustible dust. Full keypad and 5-line colour display means text messaging, contact lists, and channel information at a glance. Up to 1000 channel capacity means room for large, complex talk-group structures. Best-in-class audio with Intelligent Audio means the radio automatically adjusts volume to the surrounding noise level. Integrated GPS means mobile teams can be located for safety and coordination. Emergency button means a worker can alert a supervisor or dispatcher instantly in an emergency. IP67 rated means full dust protection and submersion resistance to one metre for thirty minutes. Applications Oil and gas extraction and refining Open-cast and underground mining Marine and fishing fleets needing SOLAS-compliant fire-fighter radios Chemical processing and manufacturing in classified hazardous areas, where text messaging or large talk-group structures are needed What's in the Box MOTOTRBO DP4801Ex radio unit (VHF or UHF) ATEX-approved 2075mAh Li-ion battery, standard part NNTN8359 ATEX-approved IMPRES single-unit charger ATEX-approved antenna, band-specific Accessory dust cover Complete Your Setup The battery, charger and antenna above ship standard in the box, so no separate purchase is needed for a new unit. Yes, the DP4801Ex is ATEX and IECEx certified for use around explosive gas, vapour, or combustible dust. How is this different from the DP4401Ex? The DP4801Ex adds a full keypad and 5-line colour display, plus a higher 1000 channel capacity, compared to the DP4401Ex's no-display, 64 channel design. Do I need a licence to use this? Two-way radio use typically requires appropriate licensing, check current NZ requirements for your application. Can I use any battery or antenna with this radio in a hazardous area? No, only genuine ATEX/IECEx-approved accessories are certified for use with this radio in a hazardous atmosphere. Using a non-approved accessory voids the intrinsic safety rating. Is this suited to marine use? The UHF DP4000 Ex Series meets SOLAS Chapter II-2 Regulation 10.10.4 for fire-fighter radios carried on board ships and carries the Wheel Mark and Red Ensign Mark, worth confirming with MSL if you need marine compliance documentation.
