Snowflake Clownfish The Snowflake Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) is a stunning captive-bred variation of the popular Ocellaris Clownfish. Its bright orange body is covered with enlarged, irregular white markings outlined in black, creating a unique snowflake-like pattern. No two Snowflake Clownfish have exactly the same markings, making every fish a one-of-a-kind addition to your marine aquarium. Hardy, colourful and full of personality, this designer clownfish is an excellent choice for both newer marine fishkeepers and experienced reef enthusiasts. Why Choose a Snowflake Clownfish? Unique white pattern on every individual Captive bred and well adapted to aquarium conditions Hardy and relatively easy to care for Suitable for reef and fish-only marine aquariums Can be kept individually or as a compatible pair Does not require an anemone Readily accepts frozen, flake and pellet foods Excellent feature fish for smaller marine aquariums Aquarium Requirements Provide an established marine aquarium of at least 75 litres with stable water conditions, open swimming space and rockwork for shelter. Snowflake Clownfish can be kept individually or as a compatible pair. When purchasing two unpaired juveniles, selecting fish of noticeably different sizes can help establish a natural hierarchy. The larger fish will typically become female, while the smaller fish remains male. Avoid keeping multiple established clownfish pairs together unless the aquarium is particularly large and provides clearly separated territories. Does a Snowflake Clownfish Need an Anemone? An anemone is not required for a Snowflake Clownfish to remain healthy and comfortable. They can thrive in marine aquariums with or without one. Some individuals may choose to associate with an anemone, coral or another area of the aquarium, while others may not display hosting behaviour at all. Anemones should only be added to mature reef aquariums with suitable lighting and stable water conditions. Reef Compatibility The Snowflake Clownfish is considered reef safe and will not normally harm corals or ornamental invertebrates. Like other clownfish, it may become more territorial around its chosen area, host or spawning site. Provide adequate space and avoid overly aggressive tankmates. Feeding Snowflake Clownfish are omnivores and readily accept a wide selection of aquarium foods, including: High-quality marine pellets Marine flakes Frozen mysis shrimp Frozen brine shrimp Finely chopped marine foods Algae and vegetable-based preparations Feed small portions once or twice daily, offering a varied diet to support healthy growth, strong colouration and long-term condition.
