Black Chaunsa gets its name from the distinctive dark brown-to-black patches that develop on the skin as it ripens — a completely natural marking, never a sign of disease or damage, and prized by Multani mango lovers as the mark of a properly tree-ripened Chaunsa. Beneath that dusky skin is deep golden, custard-smooth flesh with no fiber and a fragrance that fills the room the moment you cut it. It arrives about a week after White Chaunsa and extends slightly later into the season, giving a second, richer window of Chaunsa flavour.
