The latest Russell has been years in the making. We have refined the last, proportions and construction over time, looking for the right balance between the sleekness of a classic penny loafer and the comfort required of a shoe worn regularly. Made from 100% Italian leather, the Russell has the suppleness, natural character and durability associated with fine European shoemaking. The smooth leather versions have a particularly clean finish, while the grain leather has a more textured character and incorporates an internal elastic construction that allows the upper to flex naturally as you walk — especially useful when spending long days on your feet. The construction is equally important. Each pair is Goodyear welted, a traditional method in which the upper, insole and welt are stitched together to create a strong, stable construction. Beyond its durability and ability to retain its shape, one of the great advantages of the Goodyear welt is that the sole can be replaced when it eventually wears, allowing the shoe to be repaired and enjoyed for many years. The sole combines leather with a rubber grip, giving you the natural feel and breathability of leather with greater traction and resistance to wear.
