Silver Pendant and Bezel Setting Workshop

Learn the fundamentals of working with precious metal and take home a piece you’ll wear forever. In this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop, you will learn the core techniques of silversmithing by crafting your own custom bezel-set pendant. What You Will Learn: Design: Lay out your focal stone and surrounding metal in an attractive composition before beginning your project. Cutting and Shaping: Learn how to size, cut, and form your metal backing and bezel wire. Torch Work & Soldering: Master the basics of using a jeweler's torch to safely and securely solder your bezel cup to the backplate. Stone Setting: Discover how to properly seat a cabochon stone and gently push or burnish the bezel wall to lock it in securely. Texturing and Finishing: Experiment with hammers and finishing techniques to give your pendant a professional, polished, or textured look. Details & Inclusions: Duration: 3 hours Skill Level: Absolute beginner—no prior metalsmithing experience required. Class Size: Intimate group (maximum 4 participants) Materials & Fees: All professional tools and safety gear are provided. A $60 silver materials fee applies to cover your sterling silver sheet, wire, findings, and a selection of cabochon stones, payable on the day of the class. (Note: Chain is not included). Takeaway: A fully finished, handcrafted sterling silver and stone pendant. Space is intentionally kept small to ensure individual instruction and hands-on guidance at the bench. Check the calendar for upcoming dates to reserve your spot. _______________________________________________ Safety & Dress Code Closed-Toe Shoes Required: Open-toed shoes, sandals, or flats are strictly prohibited for your safety around heavy tools, benches, and dropped equipment. Appropriate Clothing: Wear natural fibers (such as cotton or denim) instead of loose, flowing synthetics, and avoid dangling sleeves or loose clothing that could catch on machinery or tools. Hair & Accessories: Secure long hair back, and remove long necklaces, scarves, or dangling bracelets before entering the workspace. Eye Protection: Safety glasses will be provided and must be worn during active cutting, hammering, or torch work. Workshop Attire: Bring a sturdy denim, canvas, or workshop apron if you have one, or wear older clothes that you don't mind getting stained by dark metal patinas, polishing compounds, or workshop grime.
