Fetal positions can be difficult to picture. This makes them a little easier. Understanding fetal position is an important part of learning about labour and birth, but translating abbreviations such as LOA, ROA, LOT and ROP into the actual relationship between the baby and the maternal pelvis isn’t always easy when you’re first learning. The Fetal Position Wheel gives you a simple, physical way to visualise those positions from the midwife’s point of view. Made in the UK Each Fetal Position Wheel is 3D printed by us in the UK using PLA, a type of plastic produced from renewable plant-based raw materials rather than conventional petroleum-based plastics. 3D printing allows us to manufacture our wheels in small batches with very little manufacturing waste, right here in the UK. We’d always encourage giving your wheel as long a life as possible. It’s made from durable PLA and designed to last throughout your training and beyond. If you no longer need it, consider passing it on to another student midwife rather than throwing it away. PLA can be recycled through appropriate specialist recycling streams, although it isn’t currently widely accepted in UK household recycling collections. Please don’t place it in your household recycling unless your local authority specifically confirms that it accepts PLA.
