Kartboy 5MT Shift Linkage Update 1997-2023 Subaru

This is the Kartboy 5-speed solid shift joint. If your Subaru 5-speed shifter feels vague, rubbery, or like half your shift input disappears before it reaches the transmission, the factory linkage joint is one of the biggest reasons for this feeling. The OEM setup uses a soft rubber-isolated joint that wears over time and absorbs shift input instead of transferring it cleanly to the transmission. The Kartboy solid shift joint replaces that factory assembly with a machined solid connection for a more direct and consistent feeling gear change. Designed for Subaru 5-speed manual transmission applications from 1993–2023, this kit was engineered starting with a clean-sheet design. The Kartboy solid shift joint features solid stainless machined center cross tubes, press-fit bronze bushings, and precision machined stainless crush tubes for a bind-free design while still allowing proper bolt torque - this is a component built to last. Unlike other shift joints on the market, the Kartboy joint features crush tubes, allowing properly tightening torque without binding of any kind. This is a great upgrade when installing a short shifter, refreshing old linkage components, or tightening up the overall feel of an aging 5-speed drivetrain. Fitment Note: 1997-2005 cars require the updated shift input clevis, so our kit includes the linkage update plus the needed clevis. It is common for U-bracket on five speed upper shift arm to have been deformed inward during initial assembly at factory. You may need to slightly bend bracket ears outward for proper joint fitment. This is normal.
