Arctostaphylos x 'Ron Clendenen', Manzanita
Low, groundcover form of manzanita with dark green narrow pointed foliage. Its a heavy bloomer with pink-blushed white bells in late winter. Found as a seedling in the Regional Parks Botanical Garden at Tilden, named for Ron Clendenen who has volunteered for more than two decades at the garden. We are espcicially indebted to him as he has led the propagation volunteers, and he with his wife (and fellow longtime volunteer), Rosemary, spearheaded the plant sales. Many of our manzanitas have come from attending the plant sale at Tilden. Thank you! Best grown in a baking, well-drained site in full sun. Mature size: 5-8 ft T x W Minimum temperature: 15° F evaluating - survived and thrived through lower temperatures 13° F
