Over a metre of American railroad, ready to couple up. The diesel switcher was the workhorse of every American rail yard — low, tough, and never far from a string of freight cars. This build recreates one in 2,283 pieces, coupled to a full tanker wagon and mounted on its own section of track for a display run of 104 cm end to end. Handrails trace the walkways around the long hood, twin exhaust stacks rise over the engine compartment, and the cab carries the glazing and roof detail that define the type. The tanker rides behind on its own bogies, riveted and banded like the real thing.
