This is a large sconce — nearly two feet tall, with dozens of glass tubes hanging off one mounting plate. On a wall, all that weight pulls outward rather than straight down, which is harder on a fixing than the same weight on a ceiling. Plasterboard with nothing behind it will not hold this. It needs a stud, a timber batten, or a proper heavy-duty fixing. Ask us for the exact weight and give it to your electrician before you order. 02How high do I mount it? 60–66″ from the floor in most rooms. On a fixture this tall, measure to the centre of the piece, not to the mounting box — otherwise it ends up higher than you meant. Flanking a door in a tall entry: 66–72″, because the wall above is taller. Beside a bed: 48–52″. A pair beside a mirror: 28–40″ apart, 6–8″ clear of the mirror edge. 03Will it fit a narrow hallway? Choose 2700K warm white and use the same bulb in both sockets. Through clear glass, one odd colour temperature is obvious. 06Is it bright enough to light a room? No — and that is worth being straight about. Two lamps behind textured glass give a soft, spread glow rather than a bright pool. In an entryway or a stairwell that is exactly right. In a room you need to see in, treat this as one layer and plan another light source alongside it. 07One, or a pair? One works on a stair wall or a landing. But either side of a door or a mirror, a pair does something one cannot — light from both sides means no shadow across half a face, and an entry with two reads as planned rather than as a light someone put up. If you are hanging one, measure for two. 08How do I clean it? Power off, let the bulbs cool, then a soft dry brush down the tubes rather than wiping each one. Good news: textured glass hides dust far better than smooth glass, so twice a year is enough. No ammonia sprays — they dull the surface, and the surface is what scatters the light. 09What if a tube breaks? Replaced on its own. Every tube hangs from its own hook, so one chipped piece never means taking the whole sconce off the wall. Damaged in transit? Send photos within 24 hours and we replace the affected tubes.
