The 80 LEDs fitted in a circular pattern around the lens light the workpiece without the cast shadow that side lighting inevitably creates at the very moment you look. Lens of 5 diopters, 2.25x magnification: enough to read a marking, check a solder joint or inspect a thread, without the very shallow depth of field of stronger magnifications.
