Pregnancy, due to maternal physiological changes, may alter the course of pre-existing chronic diseases as well as create a predisposition for the first manifestation of certain maternal conditions during this period. Consequently, the evaluation and management of maternal diseases in pregnancy represent one of the most complex and clinically demanding areas of obstetric practice. Currently, diagnostic, follow-up, and treatment approaches to maternal diseases are shaped by rapidly evolving national and international guidelines. However, the translation of these guidelines into clinical practice often requires an integrated interpretation of information derived from multiple medical disciplines. This necessity highlights the need for up-to-date, reliable, and systematic reference resources for clinicians working in this field. This book has been prepared with the aim of addressing the management of commonly encountered maternal diseases during pregnancy within the framework of evidence-based medicine and in accordance with current guideline recommendations. In each chapter, the interaction between maternal diseases and pregnancy physiology, diagnostic approaches, follow-up strategies, and treatment options are comprehensively evaluated based on the existing literature and guideline data. During the preparation of this work, the objective was not only to present theoretical knowledge but also to provide practical approaches that may guide clinicians in addressing challenges encountered in daily clinical practice. It is hoped that this book will serve as a valuable resource for obstetricians and gynecologists in particular, as well as for physicians working in perinatology, internal medicine, and related subspecialties.
