Drylongso - The Criterion Collection (Blu-ray)
In Oakland in 1996 — amid a serial killer targeting young Black men — college photography student Pica (Toby Smith) begins compulsively photographing the Black men she encounters, driven by a need to document and preserve. Cauleen Smith's debut feature, shot on a shoestring over two years, is an urgent, formally inventive work of African American independent cinema: a film about community, grief, visibility, and the act of looking that feels as vital now as when it was made.
