BURUNDI - RUBAGABAGA [FILTER]
We recommend this lot for filter. Origin: Kayanza, Burundi Variety: Red Bourbon Producer: 2700 Small producers Notes: Raspberry, Orange, Eucalyptus Process: Washed Rubagabaga is a washing station located in Butare, in the Kayanza region of Burundi. Founded in 1992 and managed by Greenco, it processes cherries from some 2,700 small local producers, who cultivate small plots of less than one hectare at altitudes between 1,600 and 1,900 meters. The area is known for coffee cultivation, but also for its banana plantations and its clay-rich soils, traditionally used to produce roof tiles and bricks. This Red Bourbon lot perfectly reflects the conditions of Kayanza: altitude, fertile soils, and an ideal climate to develop sweetness, acidity, and aromatic complexity. The cherries are hand-picked, selected by flotation and manual sorting, washed with clean water, and dried on raised beds for about two weeks. The result is a clean, sweet, and elegant coffee, faithfully expressing its origin.
