Silk Square Hand Painted The Curlew at the Lake

This is a hand painted silk square small in shades of green, turquoise blue, yellow and golden yellow. The Curlew design is hand drawn by Louise in the art of batik this is when hot wax is used as a resist to create images of fabric, the wax is removed at the end and the scarf is washed and steam ironed to give a lovely silky smooth finish. I wanted to do a Curlew design because the Curlews in Ireland are on the endagered list once the sound of the Curlew was a coman call and people would have fond memories hearing it when out walking especially around water. This scarf would be a lovely gift idea for birthdays, anniversaries it is hand crafted in County Monaghan in Ireland, A piece of wearable art. It would be perfect for any nature or bird enthusiast .
