Fire Barb

If you are looking for a pet fish, you are likely thinking of the Fire Barb (scientific name: Enteromius fasciolatus), which is also frequently called the African Banded Barb. Appearance: They have a brilliant red-orange background body color overlapped by dark, vertical bars. Temperament: Unlike notorious fin-nippers like Tiger Barbs, Fire Barbs are extremely peaceful and make excellent community fish. Care: They are small schooling fish reaching about 2 to 2.5 inches.
