WHO: Mark Ladner is the executive chef at Babbo. ABOUT: An American chef who grew up in Belmont, MA., Mark started his cooking career in Harvard Square in the late 80’s before attending Johnson & Wales University. He was the executive chef of Del Posto Restaurant in NYC, which was awarded a New York Times four-star rating in 2010 (the only Italian restaurant to have done so in over 50 years) as well as two Michelin stars and a Grand Chef Award by Relais & Châteaux. He also received the James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York in 2015 and published The Del Posto Cookbook, which includes a final collection of his highly-regarded recipes from that restaurant. During this time, Mark was business partners with Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich for close to 20 years and responsible for Lupa Osteria Romana and Otto Enoteca e Pizzeria. He met and started consulting with restaurateur Stephen Starr in the Fall of 2024. Serendipitously, Stephen then asked Mark to revisit his past (having opened Babbo in 1998) and help take over Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca in Greenwich Village, which reopened in the fall of 2025.
