Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 3796D “Clous de Paris” in Yellow Gold, circa 1993 – Perfect Condition
We are pleased to present this Patek Philippe Calatrava reference 3796D in 18-carat yellow gold, with a white dial and Roman numerals, produced circa 1993, in an exceptional state of preservation – almost certainly never polished. Launched in 1982 and produced until 1999, the reference 3796 is the direct heir to the reference 96 of 1932 – the same 30.5 mm diameter, the same tapered lugs, the same small seconds – and the last Calatrava in the historic size; only the sapphire crystal and the manual-winding caliber 215 PS, bearing the Geneva Seal, are new. The “D” at the end of the reference, for “Décor”, denotes the “Clous de Paris” bezel. The white dial with painted black Roman numerals is perfect. Clous de Paris bezels are the first casualties of polishing; not so here: every diamond point is crisp, the satin-finished case band is intact, and the polished edge of the caseback displays magnificent natural oxidation colouring, which only a case that has been neither rubbed nor polished could have retained. The movement has been fully serviced by one of our experienced watchmakers and runs perfectly. The original Patek Philippe black crocodile leather strap is complemented by its yellow gold pin buckle; the watch is delivered with a brown leather Patek Philippe pouch and our Steel Warranty Card. Examples of the 3796D that have never known the polishing wheel are becoming rare; ours is one of them. A Calatrava to be worn for years and handed down, equally suited to both men’s and women’s wrists.
