<tc>Fukamushicha “Kanro”</tc>
Fukamushicha “Kanro” comes from Kakegawa in Shizuoka, an area particularly renowned for its deep-steamed green teas. It is made from Yabukita, Japan’s most traditional tea cultivar.Fukamushicha means “deep-steamed tea”. During production, the leaves are steamed for longer than those of a traditional Sencha. This breaks down their structure, creating a fuller, smoother cup with a deep green colour and an almost broth-like mouthfeel.Kanro has a pronounced yet balanced vegetal character. When brewed hot, it opens with a sweet aroma of marzipan, sweetcorn and fresh green vegetables. The flavour is full-bodied and smooth, with hints of cauliflower and a gentle, starchy sweetness. The silky opening gradually gives way to an elegant astringency that lingers on the palate. When cold-brewed, the tea becomes fresher and more delicate. Floral notes, watermelon rind and sea breeze emerge alongside barley, wheat and a subtle nuttiness. The finish is long, gently sweet and floral. The name Kanro (甘露) can be translated as “sweet dew” or “nectar”, reflecting the tea’s soft, lingering sweetness.
