The club were deducted 10 points in November 2023 for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules, which was the biggest points deduction in Premier League history. Whilst an appeal against the decision was ongoing, the club was again found to have breached further rules in January 2024. In February, the first offence was reduced to six points after the initial result of the appeal, but this was followed in April by a further two-point deduction for the second offence.
