Ever since moving to the town of Willow Creek to help her sister following an accident, Emily knew she would have to shoulder certain responsibilities. But who could have imagined she would end up volunteering at the town’s Medieval Fair alongside her teenage niece? Or that she wouldn't be able to stop thinking about the irritating, buttoned-up professor in charge of the volunteers? Simon is the man organizing the fair, and from the very start, he makes it clear that he has no time for Emily’s carefree approach to life — nor for her eccentric conspiracy theories about Shakespeare, or her endless suggestions for changes to the event. But once the festivities begin — and both are clad in their respective period costumes — Simon undergoes a complete transformation. Now, the exasperating professor doesn't hesitate to flirt openly with Emily. But is the attraction real, or are they merely acting the part of the characters they portray? For Emily, the summer was supposed to be just a brief interlude in her life. But now, she can’t help fantasizing about Simon — or about staying in Willow Creek forever.
