Cassis

The Alchemy Collection is a collaborative series of original artwork produced by Liz Rundorff Smith and Teresa Roche. The patterns in this collection are made from the original artwork the artists create together by layering encaustic wax, pigmented pastel powders, geometric forms, and organic motifs. The encaustic artwork is then transformed into a distinct and sophisticated series of textile patterns. Cassis takes its name from the quaint seaside town on the southern coast of France. Warm earthtones, delicate washes of pale blue and the ease of mineral toned sand create a composition that feels both effortless and refined. Inspired by the striped awnings that line Cassis’s cafes, the pattern couples the rhythm of a repeated stripe with the expressive quality of sun-faded color and texture.
