Pittosporum 'Golf Ball'

Pittosporum 'Golf Ball' is a fast-growing, evergreen shrub renowned for its naturally compact, perfectly spherical habit that rarely requires clipping to maintain its shape. The dense structure is thickly covered in glossy, mint-green leaves that provide vibrant year-round colour, while late spring brings inconspicuous purple-brown flowers that emit a sweet honey fragrance to attract pollinators. Highly versatile and visually impactful, this shrub serves as an excellent low-maintenance alternative to traditional boxwood topiary for patio containers, structural borders, or low hedging. When establishing your new shrub, choose a position that offers full sun or partial shade in a sheltered location to protect the pristine foliage from cold, drying winter winds. It thrives in a variety of soil types, including sand, loam, and chalk, provided the earth remains moist but well-drained throughout the year. Once fully rooted, the plant becomes reasonably drought-tolerant and requires very little upkeep, though a light trim in late spring can be applied to refine its naturally rounded outline and encourage denser growth.
