Tetramorium immigrans (2 queens, 0-5 workers, eggs)

Tetramorium immigrans is a hardy and highly active species commonly known as the pavement ant. Workers are small but energetic, constantly exploring, recruiting nestmates, and working together to overpower insects much larger than themselves. Their varied diet includes small insects, sweet liquids, seeds, and other protein-rich foods. Colonies can grow quickly and display strong feeding responses, making this species especially entertaining to observe. Widespread across Canadian cities and urban areas, they are adaptable, resilient, and suitable for ant-keepers interested in active colony behavior.
