Chacra Mainque Chardonnay 2019
Description Score: 96 pts - James Suckling Chacra Mainque Chardonnay 2019 is the second Chardonnay of Bodega Chacra, the estate founded in 2004 by Piero Incisa della Rocchetta in Mainqué, in the Río Negro Valley of northern Patagonia, and farmed organically and biodynamically. Like the estate's top white, it is made together with Jean-Marc Roulot of Domaine Roulot in Meursault. Its fruit grows on deeper alluvial soils with calcareous components, which give it more up-front fruit while keeping the salinity of the house style. The 2019 was aged for 10 months in concrete eggs, stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels, 12% of them new. James Suckling rated it 96 points. "Generous and fruit-forward, it shows stone fruit and green apple skin over a stony, mineral backdrop. Round and rich on the palate, it is lifted by bright, mouthwatering acidity and a saline streak that carries into a savory, persistent finish."
