In the old houses they watched for the purple flame in the hearth, the sign that a stranger was on the road or the good people were near, and that was when the story began. We've kept that flame in the fig-dark glass. Green fig leaf and a touch of cardamom over soft, worn leather, settling into sandalwood, amber and a whisper of smoked tea. Light it, let the flame settle, and shut the door on the world. The story has its proper home. All handcrafted and hand-poured over two days in our Dublin workshop using time-honoured techniques perfected by our artisans since 1488. Green fig lifts first, before leather, oud and smoked tea settle in with the weight of bound paper and old shelves. This is a scent that speaks of safe keeping, and of a story given its proper home. Dún: In Irish, Dún means a fort or stronghold; a place of shelter and safe keeping. As a verb it means to close, as in closing out the world.
