Cabin Fever Maple Pecan Dirty Soda Kit
Cabin Fever is the fall dessert pour. Sprecher® Cream Soda provides the vanilla base, while maple, pecan, and a full pound of lactose build a rich, creamy dirty soda inspired by maple candy, toasted nuts, and cool-weather desserts. Tasting Notes Flavor: Vanilla cream soda with maple sweetness and toasted pecan. Finish: Warm maple and nutty dessert notes with lingering vanilla cream. Mouthfeel: Full, smooth, and decadent with bright carbonation to cut the richness. What’s Included 1 gallon Sprecher Cream Soda Syrup 1 lb lactose 1 dram LorAnn Super Strength Maple Flavoring 1 dram LorAnn Super Strength Pecan Flavoring Yield: 5 gallons of finished dirty soda. Behind the Mix These kits were built around the same full-keg method we use in our own dirty soda trials: dissolve 1 lb of lactose separately, combine it with pre-sweetened Sprecher syrup and concentrated flavoring in the keg, then mix and carbonate under pressure. For the fall seasonal, we wanted something warmer than another fruit-and-cream combination. Cream Soda gives maple and pecan a familiar vanilla foundation, and we kept both flavor additions at a full dram so neither gets lost in a five gallon batch. Lactose supplies the rich texture that makes the combination read as a dirty soda rather than flavored cream soda.Mixing & Carbonation Instructions Clean and sanitize. Clean and sanitize a 5 gallon keg, lid, and anything that will contact the soda. Dissolve the lactose. Bring 1 quart of water to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the full 1 lb of lactose until completely dissolved. Cool the lactose solution before adding it to the keg. Build the soda. Add the full 1 gallon of Sprecher soda syrup to the sanitized keg. Add the cooled lactose solution, then add all flavoring included with the kit. Fill to 5 gallons. Add water until the total volume reaches 5 gallons. Mix under pressure. Seal the keg, apply 25 to 30 PSI of CO2, and shake or rock the keg for at least 1 minute. This helps thoroughly mix the syrup, lactose solution, flavoring, and water while giving carbonation a head start. Carbonate cold. Chill the keg and keep it connected at 25 to 30 PSI for about 3 days, or until carbonated to your preference. Serve. Reduce to your normal serving pressure, typically 5 to 10 PSI depending on your draft system, and serve cold. Forced carbonation only: Sprecher soda syrups contain preservatives and are not intended for yeast or priming sugar carbonation. Recommended Keg Setup A standard 5 gallon ball lock keg will work. For a blended drink like dirty soda, we also recommend the Craft Cocktail on Draft 5 Gallon Ball Lock Keg. Its two full-length dip tubes send incoming CO2 to the bottom of the keg, helping keep the drink mixed as you pour. If you already own a compatible keg, another option is adding a full-length liquid dip tube on the gas side for a similar bottom-up CO2 setup. Kegging equipment and CO2 are not included with the recipe kit.
