Manawa Aroha Necklace

The Manawa Aroha (loving heart) pendant represents deep emotional bonds, unity, and the enduring core of human connection. In Te Ao Māori, this treasured design brings together manawa (the physical heart, breath, and seat of life) and aroha (compassion, empathy, and respect), symbolising a genuine expression of care worn closest to the chest. Design Symbolism: Two graceful koru form the outline of a heart, while two smaller koru connect at the centre, representing the intertwining paths of loved ones and the eternal growth of cherished relationships with family (whānau) and friends. Cultural Roots & Linguistic Meaning: Aroha means to attentively care for and honour the life force of another, reflecting peace, generosity, and emotional strength. The Living Taonga: Traditionally associated with heartfelt taonga (treasures) carved from pounamu, the pendant embodies holistic well-being, empathy, and an unbreakable spiritual connection to both people and the land.
