Avocado Scion Wood is a fresh-cut stem piece taken from a mature, fruiting avocado tree, used for grafting onto a compatible rootstock. Each scion is approximately 6 to 8 inches long with active buds that carry the exact genetics of the parent variety, ensuring the grafted tree will produce identical fruit in flavor, size, and quality. Grafting with scion wood is the only reliable way to reproduce a named avocado variety true to type. Scion wood is ideal for growers who want to add premium avocado varieties to their collection without purchasing full-sized grafted trees. Multiple varieties can be grafted onto a single rootstock, or used to top-work an existing tree. Each scion should be grafted promptly after purchase for the highest success rate. These varieties are sourced from our own mother trees in Solarte. Many of these varieties are not available anywhere else in Panama.
