Listen, Listen

This song was submitted by Jon as part of the request for hymns back in 2019 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While the song was not selected to be part of the final hymnal, many people have requested it so that they can add it to their repertoire. The song was meant to be a Primary song. It has a simple and easy-to-learn melody and the repetitive phrase “Listen, Listen” throughout. The inspiration for the song came from President Nelson’s invitation to “Hear Him.” In Jon’s words: I received inspiration for this song while mowing my lawn. I couldn’t get the song out of my head, so I stopped and went inside and wrote it quickly. I’ve had this kind of experience many times. The song was most certainly inspired by the Spirit, and I was simply the one that was blessed to receive it. Because this was a gift from God to me, I wish to pass it on to the world as a gift from me. A piano-only arrangement of the song was recorded and published on the “Back to Basics” album that is available on all streaming platforms. Sheet music for that entire album will be released soon.
