TraumaSim Burn Blistered
TraumaSim's Burn Blistered is a self-adhesive silicone wound prosthetic presenting a superficial partial thickness burn with blister formation — the characteristic wound presentation of a second-degree burn at its most immediately recognisable stage. Blistering is the defining clinical sign of a superficial partial thickness burn — the fluid-filled vesicles that form as plasma leaks from damaged capillaries into the space between the epidermis and dermis. The presence of blisters is clinically significant: it confirms that the burn has penetrated beyond the superficial epidermis, involves the upper dermis, and requires a management approach that differs from a superficial first-degree burn. It also raises the important clinical question of blister management — intact blisters are generally left undisturbed as a natural wound dressing, while ruptured blisters require wound care. Training trainees to identify a blistered burn, classify it correctly, and apply appropriate management decisions is a core burn assessment skill. The Burn Blistered prosthetic presents realistic fluid-filled blister detail across the wound surface — the three-dimensional raised vesicle appearance that makes this wound type immediately recognisable and clinically distinct from the flat, erythematous presentation of a superficial burn or the dry, leathery appearance of a deeper full thickness injury. That visual specificity is what makes this prosthetic training-valuable: trainees aren't just learning that burns exist, they're developing the pattern recognition to classify burn depth accurately from presentation. Used alongside the Burn Large — which presents the flat, deeper wound surface of a significant partial to full thickness burn — the Burn Blistered adds the superficial partial thickness category to burn training coverage, completing a two-variant burn prosthetic set that spans the burn depth spectrum most commonly encountered in civilian first aid and emergency response contexts. At 9.5 cm x 9.5 cm x 0.4 cm, the compact format suits contact burn presentations — hand, forearm, foot, and localised body surface burns from thermal contact mechanisms — as well as secondary blister formation on larger burn margins where the wound transitions from deeper to more superficial injury. Manufactured from durable, life-like silicone with tapered edges that blend naturally onto skin, manikin surfaces, or clothing. Hand painted — minor variation in appearance between units should be expected. All TraumaSim silicone wounds are self-adhesive, washable, and reusable. Available individually and as part of TraumaSim moulage kits including the Advanced Trauma Moulage Kit and Silicone Wound Kit — Trauma. Available in 11 skin tones: 00 Porcelain, 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Olive, 04 Medium Olive, 05 Rosy, 06 Warm Rosy, 07 Warm Tan, 08 Tan, 09 Dark Tan, and 10 Dark.
