This Certified Used McMurdo SmartFind G8 EPIRB is a Category 2 Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB), designed to provide a reliable distress alerting solution for mariners operating offshore or in remote waters. Once manually removed from its mounting bracket and activated, the beacon transmits a distress signal to the international Cospas-Sarsat search and rescue satellite network, helping emergency services quickly locate and assist those in danger. The SmartFind G8 features integrated GNSS positioning technology, allowing it to obtain accurate location coordinates from multiple satellite constellations. When activated, the beacon transmits a unique distress message on the 406 MHz emergency frequency, while also broadcasting a 121.5 MHz homing signal to assist local rescue teams during the final stages of a search operation. This used unit remains fully functional and is supplied with a manual release bracket. The installed battery is valid until September 2032, providing several years of operational service before replacement is required. A built-in self-test facility allows users to regularly check the beacon's status and battery condition for added peace of mind. Key Features 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz distress transmission Integrated GNSS positioning for enhanced location accuracy Internationally approved Cospas-Sarsat emergency beacon High-intensity flashing LED strobe light Minimum 48 hours continuous operation when activated Battery expiry date: September 2032 Comprehensive self-test facility with battery status indication Manual release mounting bracket included Rugged marine-grade construction EPIRB Registration Information EPIRB registration is a legal requirement in many countries and is essential for ensuring an effective rescue response. Registration allows search and rescue authorities to identify the vessel and emergency contacts associated with the beacon. This information can significantly reduce response times and improve the effectiveness of rescue operations. For registration requirements and guidance, visit the International Beacon Registration Database (IBRD) and the Cospas-Sarsat programme website. Programming Information All EPIRBs supplied by GTC are programmed with the UK country code unless otherwise specified. While the beacon can be used anywhere in the world, emergency alerts will initially be routed through UK search and rescue authorities based on the programmed country code. If you require programming for another country, please contact us before purchase. Important Notice An EPIRB should only be activated in situations involving grave and imminent danger to life. False alerts can divert valuable search and rescue resources and may result in penalties or prosecution. Always ensure the beacon is correctly registered and used responsibly. This version removes references to the original 10-year battery life and warranty, while positioning it appropriately as a used unit with a known remaining battery life.
