There's a lot going on in this piece, and there's also something going terribly wrong. I leaned into this concept a lot in my artwork in the early days because it made you look closer at everything happening in the piece and I had fun adding in unexpected twists. This woman looks like she's just finished figure skating, but she's holding a broken hockey stick and a hockey puck is mid-flight along with her missing tooth. The octopus in the corner is another added twist - does anyone get this reference? The Detroit Red Wings started this strange tradition where fans throw octopus on the rink (supposedly symbolizing the 8 wins needed for the Stanley Cup). City Pages also used this art for their winter cover. Note: colors on-screen may vary slightly on actual print --- WHAT IS AN ORIGINAL SCREEN PRINT? Our screen prints are all printed by Adam in-house at our studio. Screen printing is a process where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto archival paper. Making certain areas of the screen impervious to printing ink thus creating a stencil, which blocks the printing ink from passing through the screen. The ink that passes through forms the printed image. Each screen print is made up of multiple layers/screens of ink that may print on top of one another to form multiple colors (i.e. printing yellow over blue will create a green color). Each screen print is slightly unique because of the hand-quality of screen printing process. All screen prints are hand-signed and dated by Adam.
