Friday, July 31 10:00-1:00, 3 hours About this class: This class explores spinning beautiful, creative yarns that step outside of the world of standard 2 and 3 plied yarns. In this class, students will have the opportunity to spin multiple different types of yarns that are both beautiful and functional. The class will cover several different types of yarns and techniques including: thick and thin, spirals, and two color crepe yarns. Level: Beginner What you’ll need to bring to class: wheel/e-spinner, bobbins (at least 3), niddy noddy (sample size is great but not required), pen/pencil About the instructor: Susan is the spinner and fiber artist behind Calypso Wool at Calypso Farm and Ecology Center. She dyes, spins, designs patterns and loves teaching. Calypso Farm is located in interior Alaska and is a community-based organization focused on hands-on education and local food and fiber production. The farm is home to a small, friendly flock of Shetland Sheep. Please note - Marketplace tickets are not included in the class price and will need to be purchased separately. In order to allow our instructors to prepare for their classes, we are not able to refund class purchases if your plans change.
