Chiroso Washed Las Perlitas

This is a Chiroso Washed from Las Perlitas, Antioquia, Colombia, sourced through our friends at The Coffee Quest. The way it works is smallholder farmers across the region each bring in their own small Chiroso harvests, they get individually cupped at the dry mill, and the best ones get blended together into this export lot. Lots of small producers, one really good bag. Chiroso is still a relatively young variety in Colombia, it only really found its moment a few years ago, but it’s already making a strong case for itself. Naturally bright acidity, a juiciness and sweetness that punches above its weight, and a mouthfeel that’s very satisfying. In the cup: juicy orange up front, then this lovely prune and almond sweetness underneath. It’s bright but it’s balanced. It works beautifully as a filter, pulls a great espresso, and honestly it’s the kind of coffee you could happily drink every single day without getting bored of it.
