Here we have a beautiful Victorian Silver Plated Salt Spoon from the 1880s. It would be a great way to serve salt, pepper or mustard at the dinner table. The spoon has a long Old English style tapered handle and a beautifully elegant oval shaped bowl. As a piece of authentic Victorian tableware, it represents the craftsmanship of the late 19th Century. It was made by Elkington and Co and it has their maker’s mark and Elkington Plate stamped on the back of the handle. Elkington and Co, one of Britain's most respected silverware manufacturers, was well known for their high quality silver plate products. It has Elkington’s date letter “z” to show it was made in 1888. It’s a lovely example of a classic design popular in the Victorian era. This pretty antique spoon would make a lovely present and a small gift bag can be bought separately to put it in. It’s shiny with a tiny dot of tarnish to the inside of the bowl. The silver plate is worn in one place on the base of the bowl which can be seen in the photos. It’s a longer handled spoon, measuring 9.3cm in length (just over 3 5/8 inches).
