No virgin materials, no added dyes One-of-a-kind, just like the lids that built it The Problem: Bottle Top Lids Are Too Small to Recycle Most council kerbside systems cannot capture lids. They are smaller than the sorting screens, so they fall through the cracks and end up in landfill, even when the bottle they came from gets recycled. We have collected millions of these lids through BRAD, one of Australia's largest hard-to-recycle programs. The next problem? Where do they go. So we built a manufacturing line that turns those lids into things people actually want to carry. Like this carabiner. The colours, the swirls, the BRAD logo on the side: every one of them came from a lid that would have been waste. From Bottle Top to Bag Clip: How Your Carabiner Is Made 1. Collect. You drop off your lids at Banish or post them in through the BRAD Pre-Paid Program. Soy sauce fishies count too. 2. Sort. Volunteers hand-sort every lid by colour and plastic type at our Sydney workshop. The mix you choose is what creates your colourway. 3. Shred. We shred the lids in our in-house shredder. Some of the shreds become carabiners, some become pens, and some go to other micro-recyclers, artists, and schools. 4. Handcraft. Each carabiner is moulded, finished, and stamped with the BRAD logo at our Sydney sustainability hub. No factory line. No mass production. Why This Carabiner: Not Just Sustainable. Actually Better. Built for everyday carry. Clips onto keys, bags, water bottles, and lanyards. Strong enough for daily use, light enough you forget it is there. Every carabiner is one-of-a-kind. Colours come from the natural shades of the recycled lids. No dyes added. No two carabiners look the same. BRAD-branded, Sydney-made. The BRAD logo is moulded right into the side. A small, visible signal that you are part of one of Australia's biggest recycling programs. Closes the loop. This is circular economy in action. Lids go in, carabiners come out. And every purchase funds the next round of collection, sorting, and shredding. Ready to clip something with a story? Every carabiner diverts 3-4 bottle tops from landfill. Now four of us have one." Olivia P., Verified Buyer "Bought as a stocking filler. My partner uses theirs every single day on their water bottle. Love that it is recycled and that it lasts." Marcus G., Verified Buyer "Cute, functional, and the BRAD logo makes me smile every time I use my keys." Steph L., Verified Buyer Good Questions. Straight Answers. Can I use this carabiner for rock climbing or any load-bearing activity? No. This carabiner is designed for everyday use such as clipping keys, water bottles, or accessories to your bag. It is not rated for climbing, harness work, or any load-bearing application. Always use a certified climbing carabiner for anything safety-critical. What is it made from? HDPE and PP plastic from recycled bottle top lids and soy sauce fishies, all collected through BRAD (Banish Recycling and Diversion). No virgin plastic, no added dyes. The colours are entirely from the original lids. What is the BRAD logo and why is it on my carabiner? BRAD stands for Banish Recycling and Diversion, our recycling program that collects hard-to-recycle items like bottle top lids. The logo is moulded into the carabiner as a small, visible reminder that you are part of one of Australia's largest recycling programs. What does the optional silver keyring do? It is a 25mm sleek silver ring that attaches to the carabiner and turns it into a ready-to-use keyring. Add it on at the variant selector for an extra $1, or skip it if you already have one. Will my carabiner look exactly like the photos? No. Because each one is handmade from a different mix of recycled lids, the colours and swirls vary slightly. The Lucky Dip option leans into that. Choose a specific colourway if you want a closer match. How do I clean it? A wipe with a damp cloth handles most situations. The plastic is durable and water-resistant. How does buying this help recycling? Every purchase directly funds the collection, sorting, washing, shredding, and remanufacturing of more bottle top lids through BRAD. So your carabiner is not just made from recycled plastic, it is what keeps the program running. Every Carabiner Tells a Story. What Will Yours Carry? 1 handmade carabiner. 3-4 bottle tops diverted from landfill. Made right here in Sydney by humans who care.
