HMM Scissors – Gold

The HMM Scissors are the clearest argument that a pair of scissors can be a desk object worth displaying rather than hiding. Designed by HMM — Human Made Method — a design studio based in Taipei, they are made from Japanese stainless steel with a titanium coating that gives the gold version its warm, durable finish. The wide blades cut crisp and clean on every stroke, and the square-tipped profile gives them a geometric quality that photographs as well as it performs. They work equally well for left and right-handed users. The more useful detail is hidden in the handle. One flip of the tool converts the scissors into a box cutter — a built-in blade that sits along the top edge of the handle and is instantly accessible without reaching for a second tool. The brass magnetic base is included and does exactly what it looks like it does: it holds the scissors upright on the desk with a strong, satisfying magnetic grip, turning what could be a drawer item into something worth putting on display. The base can also be mounted with adhesive to a wall or surface.
