His memories and his secrets were the coin he paid for the right to lead Seroca's worshippers to glory, and from inside the bargain the price feels trivial. What he has gained in his god's service outweighs any soft thing he might once have owned, childhood, love, family, friendship, all of it foreign to him now as a language he never learned. His goals are Seroca's goals, and there is no smaller wish living behind them.
